Writing Ourselves Whole

Writing to Heal:
The Healing Power of Words

The very act of writing and journaling can be deeply healing. When you find the language for the stories that are locked inside, you can change your life. You begin to make yourself whole again.

For survivors of complex trauma, it can be one of the most powerful ways to recover.

We will explore a new theme each week that contains exercises to move you forward in your healing process. We will focus on writing as a practice for transformation, embodying your story, how to write trauma, loss, and pain without re-traumatization, the power of writing joy and desire, and more.

We will be incorporating mindfulness, grounding techniques, and somatic (body work) into each of our sessions. Each session will begin with a meditation, then a series of writing prompts, followed by sharing and breaks.

We will explore:

Preparing to write, suturing the rupture, what writing about trauma can do:

· How to re-story

· Voice

· Witness

· Self-care

· Building community
