The combination of using Right Brain Therapies such as Art, Music, or Dance (Movement) with the linear process of traditional counseling is often the most effective therapeutic approach in working with complex trauma clients.

When Trauma occurs, all of the senses are involved, it is the same for recovery. Art, Music and Movement unlock stored memory connected to the senses. The work of R:199 is a wonderful adjunct to traditional counseling by assisting access to places of the brain not accessible through traditional means and avenues of counseling.

Restoration 199 is an organization which provides compassionate, informed psychotherapy for victims of trauma.  The staff is knowledgeable and experienced in providing care for those who have suffered from emotional, physical and sexual abuse as adults or children.  Restoration staff provides affordable and effective services for their clients respecting the religious faith perspective of all those whom they serve. I have directly observed their professionals in action and can give them a hearty recommendation.

JOHN MCKINLEY
CAPITAL BAPTIST CHURCH

Candace and her team at Restoration 1:99 have had a powerful and indelible impact on the Capital Baptist Church family through consistent encouragement, training and support. The Healing Conversation series is far more than just another seminar with bullet points and cookie-cutter processes. This is a series that brings clear understanding of the human experience and the effect trauma has on individuals – body, brain, mind, soul and spirit. There are many facts to absorb and some technical language to understand, but the important part is the intimate conversation, a bit of introspection for those participating. This gives the participants a sense of compassion, empathy and sensitivity for those with whom we may interact through the Trauma-Informed Ministry of Capital Baptist Church.

Much of the training I have experienced in the past has been focused on identifying a problem and getting to work fixing the problem in the lives of clients or seekers. The Healing Conversations series brings to bear the truth that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. It is truly a reminder to never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved.
