Expressive Therapies (innovative new holistic approaches to healing):
“Eden” is our new economic empowerment program (EEP) for survivors of complex trauma. Survivors are taught to integrate wellness into all aspects of their lives as they learn job skills and ready themselves for permanent employment.
Eden is not just about training survivors how to make hand-crafted herbal bath and body products but is a safe place for them to heal.
Most EEPs are primarily about teaching a skill. At Eden, learning the skill is secondary. The primary focus is to help survivors develop a healthy community where they learn to understand workplace relationships so they are able to thrive in their new life.
Support for the Helpers
Survivors of complex trauma must rely upon others to guide them through the quagmire of their trauma. Many times, these supporters (family, friends, co-workers) are dealing with their own issues and may not know how to relate in a way that is supportive.
Because it is critical that survivors have a healthy support system to rely upon, R 1:99 offers community seminars and workshops on various topics throughout the year, such as Healing Conversations. If needed and/or desired, group sessions and even individual counseling can be provided for supporters.
