Hawani Tessema

Clinical Intern

Hawani (Hawi) is a graduate student at Concordia University in Irvine, Calfifornia, earning a Master's Degree in Counseling. She also holds a Master's in Global Health from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.


She is originally from Ethiopia and has lived in the northern Virginia area most of her life. Hawi enjoys writing and producing songs and hopes to integrate her artistic creativity into counseling. She is interested in helping teens. their parents, as well as young adults, navigate life's challenges. She uses a combination of a person-centered approach with dialectical behavioral therapy to build a therapeutic alliance with clients and provide the support and skills they need to achieve their goals. She is an optimist and believes in the power of inner healing, life-giving connections, and personal growth.
