Our therapists are trained in many treatment models and utilize different types of treatments depending upon survivor needs. Our therapists help survivors reduce their symptoms and move toward long-term success. We follow traditional and modern approaches to assist survivors find healing from their trauma. To do so, we conduct an initial assessment to get a better idea of how to help the survivor. After the assessment is completed, the therapist determines whether the survivor should participate in individual therapy, group therapy, experiential therapy. And in some cases, the recommendation is to do more than one of these forms of therapy at the same time.

R1:99 offers psychotherapy groups throughout the year for survivors of childhood sexual trauma and sex trafficking. Shelter from the Storm is a great curriculum for those who have not had any therapy or have not been in group before. It is gentle and broad; introducing survivors to the various areas that may need to be healed. Healing the Wounded Heart is a curriculum that goes much deeper and is for those who have had some therapy.
Groups meet for 6 - 12 weeks (depending upon the group). To achieve full benefit, survivors need to prepare modest homework assignments and participate in group sessions discussions. These courses represent an opportunity for survivors to understand the cause of their pain, to learn to grieve and take responsibility for their healing, emotions, and behavior.

Healing the Wounded Heart: Hope for Adult Victims of Childhood Sexual Abuse
We now understand that trauma not only lodges itself in the brain but also the body. We have also learned that survivors "hold" their beliefs about themselves in their bodies. Expressive Therapy gives the survivor an outlet that allows them to benefit from music, writing, movement, drama and artistic expressions.
R1:99 offers expressive therapy in individual and group formats.

Our Funding Model
Our highest priority is ensuring that every survivor of sexual trauma has access to the therapy and other social supports they need to heal. In order to remain financially sustainable so that we can continue to meet this mission, we do four things.
