CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE YOU ON OUR TEAM
R1:99 has many opportunities for you to become part of the solution to sex trafficking.
HT-101 Program to Begin Soon |
Wider Scope |
We are working on a new Advocate Package for people interested in learning more about Human Sex Trafficking, and what to do about it.
We have operated our Ambassador for Restoration Program for more than a dozen years. It served a useful purpose, but in those many years, so many things have changed about human trafficking and we are in the process of change ourselves. Therefore, we will offer a new concept in supporting individuals to end trafficking, and it all starts with INFORMATION. Our new Human Trafficking 101 (HT101) will provide that information to equip interested citizens in making a significant difference in the lives of survivors of human sex trafficking as well as others, including potentially, people who may otherwise be captured into sex slavery. HT101 is Phase One of this endeavor. More information is on the way as we begin to roll out this new program. No start date has been established so Check Back often for updates. |
Not only will we provide new and updated information about trafficking, but we will do so with an eye on preparing you for the work that needs to be done, not just the knowledge and awareness of this insidious crime. We will begin with an in-depth study of trauma in the lives of anyone/everyone. And let it flow into the specifics of human trafficking.

BRUISED REEDS AND SMOLDERING WICKSBruised Reeds and Smoldering Wicks: A Six Week Study of Trauma-Informed Ministry and Compassionate Care for Children From Hard Places and Situations is the title of the first 6 sessions of this 13-part Human Sex Trafficking 101 program. It is based on a book by Chris Haughee
Week 1: Jesus and the children; Key idea: Jesus welcomes ALL children, even those affected by trauma, toxic stress, or adversity (ACEs). Week 2: Advocacy...what is "trauma-informed" talk all about?; Key Idea: In order to advocate for children and families impacted by trauma, your church should consider trauma-informed ministry. Week 3: Was Jesus ministry "trauma-informed?"; Key Idea: Jesus understood the devastating effects of trauma and adversity and His ministry was shaped in a way that responded to our needs. Week 4: How the traumatized can look like they "have it all together"; Key Idea: Those that are dealing with trauma don't all look the same. Even leaders in your community have been touched by trauma, so everyone should be treated compassionately. Week 5: Does being trauma-informed mean we avoid saying hard things? Key Idea: Jesus was compassionate yet firm, being trauma-informed means you prepare for the strong reaction some topics may elicit, not that you avoid all issues that may elicit a strong reaction. Week 6: Responding to trauma within the compassionate Kingdom of God; Key Idea: God's Kingdom stands apart from this world's kingdoms, bringing justice and mercy where trauma and headache have prevailed. |
