Community Awareness Training

Community Awareness Programs

1. Healing Conversations for Friends & Families of Survivors of Sexual Trauma
Helpers who are living with and/or involved with survivors of sexual trauma are often frustrated in their relationship with them. They truly want to help but due to lack of information and skill they often end up making the problem worse. This 4 week interactive group will equip the caregiver with:
  • Understanding of how sexual trauma impacts the brain and body
  • The different attachment styles of survivors and how it affects relationships,
  • Understanding the stages of change your loved one is moving through, and
  • The basics of motivational interviewing.
Fee: $100 per session ($25 per week)
Duration: 90 min
Max: 8 people
Offered: year round, contact info@R199 to see when the next group will be starting.

2. Overcoming Compassion Fatigue, Caring for the Caregiver
It is a privilege to walk alongside others on their journey to wholeness. However, many lay helpers have not been trained to see the potential pitfalls that lead to compassion fatigue and eventually burnout. It is best to take this training before one starts to become a helper. Unfortunately, most wait until they are on the road to quitting before they start to get help for themselves. This 8 week interactive group will:
  • Help the helper identify risks and rewards of helping
  • Predict caregiver stress
  • Teach the Characteristics of compassion fatigue and burnout
  • Identify the belief systems of helpers
  • Target interventions
  • Present the Cognitive behavior model for provider distress
  • Demonstrate Caring trauma in our bodies: using expressive therapies to relieve stress
  • Learn how to assess yourself: recognize thinking patterns & use assessment tools
  • Explain the High priority for self-care
  • Discuss Organizational and Peer interventions
  • & more
Fee: $240 ($30 per session)
Duration: 90 min
Max: no limit
Offered: year round, contact info@R199 for more information
