More Than Therapy: Supporting Survivors Holistically
For 22 years, R1:99 has stood as an unwavering pillar of support. We began humbly as a vital Bible study for women navigating the trauma of trafficking through a DC court-ordered program. Thanks to your steadfast support, we have grown exponentially to deliver vital, life-changing services that now reach survivors and their families facing complex trauma, including:
-
Sexual abuse and trafficking
-
Domestic and intimate partner violence
-
Military PTSD and suicide ideation
-
Gun and community violence
-
Substance abuse and returning citizens
The Urgent Need: Beyond Clinical Care
While we provide cutting-edge, essential therapy and clinical care, our commitment to survivors must extend far beyond the counseling room. Complex trauma often leaves survivors facing immense and immediate practical hardships that threaten their stability. We routinely assist them with crucial, immediate needs that bridge the gap between crisis and healing:
-
Emergency Travel and Lodging
-
Food Security and Warm Clothing
-
Crucial Legal Fees
-
Car Repairs and Reliable Transportation
We recently received a heartbreaking call from one of our sex trafficking survivors who was facing the onset of winter with only a thin hoodie and a jean jacket—absolutely no coat, slacks, or sweaters to fend off the cold. When I shared her desperate plight with a generous donor, she immediately pulled out a $100 bill and simply stated, "Please buy her a coat and buy it today."
Help Us Stabilize a Survivor's Crisis
Stories like this are not exceptions; they are common occurrences. Providing immediate, tangible support in a crisis is not a luxury—it is often the critical difference between stability and catastrophic disaster for a survivor fighting for a new life. As the seasons change and new crises emerge, our capacity to respond must be swift and dependable.
It is imperative that we establish a dedicated Survivor Emergency Assistance Fund of at least $10,000 immediately.
-
$100 buys clothing
-
$200 buys a grocery gift card
-
$250 pays for filing fees
-
$150 pays for one night of safety in a hotel
-
$500 pays for car repairs
This fund will serve as a lifeline, ensuring we can provide adequate, swift, and dignity-restoring assistance for these critical, unplanned needs throughout the year. Your gift today translates directly into warmth, safety, and stability.
We thank you in advance for your continued partnership and profound generosity in helping us deliver holistic care that truly meets survivors exactly where they are—at their moment of greatest need.
